I didn't think when I read your DM sitting in my twitter profile it would be a life changing message. I also didn't think that 4 years later I would consider you my best friend - and that we would still be talking every day.
I grew up most of my life believing that I would grow apart from most of my friends. I envied the girls that I saw who were still going strong from elementary school. Little did I know back then that my sister from another mister was growing up an hour away from New York City - and two and a half hours away from me in the great state of New Jersey.
The worst part is that your over three hours away. We can't drop what we're doing to head next store when a boy has been stupid or we've had a bad day. We can't use our free Saturday's to get lunch and go to the mall.
Instead our visits consist of trips to the other state, or nightly phone calls that go for eight hours while we're asleep, and many failed Facetime calls due to poor service inside of dorm rooms.
But I wouldn't trade it for anything.
It's led to some of my most cherished memories, starting at the first time we met at my high school when you came to see in Fiddler on the Roof and the night we drove out to Union Beach with a gorgeous view of the city, talking about our dreams and the things holding us back in life with a giant bag of orange gummy bears.
You know me better than anyone, and you've always been there for me.
Sure, we have our moments where we get under each others skin, but that's never changed anything. The 161 miles in between us have only strengthened our friendship - and it all started through a DM on Twitter.
