To My Best Friend at Another College,

I know we don't get to talk as much as I wish we could, but I want you to know first that I am so proud of you. I know the future is scary, but I don't doubt that you are going to be so successful. You are one of the best people I know, and I am so proud of you. Even on the tough days, which may seem like most of them, please know that I think the world of you and am proud of how hard you are working.

Second, I am always here for you. Even though you're somewhere else, I'm only a phone call or a text away. I love hearing from you, and even though it's not as good compared to face-to-face contact, I love hearing about how you are doing and what's going on in your life. I know it's hard to get away from your studies, but I do treasure hearing from you. If you ever need a pep talk or just someone to talk to or a funny hockey meme, I am ready! I would say text me first, but I know you forget. So send me some Jedi mind signal, okay?

Third, I am grateful to have you in my life. We have the luxury that we are family so that always helps, but I so value getting to spend time with you whenever we can. I mean you can't pick family, but you can choose to befriend them. I am so glad that we got close during high school, and I can't imagine what life without you would've been like! Actually, I don't want to, because you have been just a source of care and friendship. I am grateful for you being in my life. Despite being a distance away, I am glad to know that you have my back and are here for me too.

Fourth, I know it's hard, but please try not to worry too much. God has a beautiful plan for your life, and sometimes it may be out of your control. But every day is a gift and a fresh start, so try not to be so hard on yourself. Give it your best is all you can ask of yourself and anyone can ask of you. Proverbs 3:6 says, "Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take." It might not be the path you expected, but in the end, you will end up okay.

You are growing so much as a person, and although it's a tough time. Know you're never alone in this. God is with you, watching over you, caring for you, and guiding you. Putting your trust in him, you can't lose.

Fifth, I cherish all of the amazing memories we have had and all the great ones to come. I love looking back at all of the beautiful memories we have shared, and they bring a smile to my face. You truly are the definition of what a best friend should be, and I am so lucky to have you in my life. I hope this summer is full of some fun adventures and time spent together.

Finally, know that I love you so much and am rooting for you!

I believe in you. Hang in there. I'll see you soon!

With love,

Me

P.S. I included some cute, "inspirational" quotes because you know it's what I do.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
