Open Letter to My Nephew

You are the best thing an auntie could ever wish for.

Open Letter to My Nephew
Hannah Ginley

Dear Nephew, you are only eleven days old on the day I'm writing this. I know you haven't been to school in order to know how to read yet but this is for you, bug. First, I would like to start off with the story of your sweet mommy and me. We have known each other since about freshman year of high school. She was my person and stood up for me whenever I needed it. She helped me through some struggles during my freshman year of high school. That was by far the worst year of high school EVER. We were best friends and spent a lot of time together. We joined a school club called FCCLA. We eventually became presidents and we competed together all the way to state. (We may or may not have been FCCLA rockstars). As high school continued, we allowed people to come between us and we grew apart. The Spring of 2016, your sweet momma gave me a second chance for friendship. Not far afterwards, I learned God chose your mommy and daddy to send you to. I was then honored with the privilege of being your Auntie. Being an only child, I would have missed out on this chance. God knew how much this meant to me. I am truly blessed.

For thirty-six weeks, I watched you grow inside your mommy's tummy and develop into a handsome little boy. Seeing how much you grew in so little time was a truly amazing experience. Daily snapchats of you poking on your mommy's tummy and ultrasounds galore kept me anxiously awaiting your arrival. On a Saturday December night I learned your mommy was going to have you and literally jumped up and down in my kitchen due to excitement. I WAS FINALLY AN AUNTIE! I barely slept that night wishing for the next say so I could come cuddle your tiny little self. When I walked into the hospital room, it was love at first sight. Ten little fingers, ten little toes, and an allover perfect creation wrapped up in a warm cozy blanket. In that moment, I was in heaven. You were the most perfect thing I have ever seen in my life. I could probably talk about how proud I am to be your auntie forever. But I won't. I just want you to know how dearly you are loved. I want you to know how blessed you are to have the parents you have. Your family loves you so very much. As much as I dread this part, I cannot wait to watch you grow up into a handsome young man. This is by far one of the best experiences of my life. I love you more than words could begin to describe. I will always be here to spoil you and be the coolest auntie I can possibly be. Love Always, Auntie.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
