An Open Letter To Alpha Chi Omega
Allison Stassel

Dear Alpha Chi Omega,

I need to start off by saying thank you. Thank you for everything you have brought my way over the past two years. You have brought me endless love, laughter and friendships that will last a lifetime. You have taught me that the bond of sisterhood is stronger than any argument or disagreement. Thank you for getting me involved in our amazing philanthropy—domestic violence awareness—that will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you for providing me a support group of 100 amazing girls, who, despite our differences, can all come together in a time of need. And most of all, thank you for being my home away from home. Being an out-of-state student can be difficult at times, but you have given me a reason to call Utah home.

Walking into recruitment two years ago was a nerve-racking experience. I went searching for a place where I could not only belong, but also be a part of something bigger than myself. And thanks to you, I found exactly that. I have found a group of girls who help me strive to be my best, and a sisterhood that lasts forever. You have brought me sisters who have been my rock through hard times and who have helped me swim when I started to sink.

Through you, I have found my three Littles, my roommates, my very best friends and my family. I know that my sisters will stand by me when I walk at graduation and down the aisle on my wedding day. Before I accepted my bid, I would have never imagined what the bond of sisterhood would mean to me, but I am extremely grateful for what I have found. Thank you, Alpha Chi Omega, for teaching me to be a real strong woman in today's society. You have taught me the importance of volunteering and serving others, fighting for what is right and not taking no for an answer. I have never felt so unconditionally loved, safe, empowered and accepted by so many people before. I am beyond blessed to be a part of an organization dedicated to seeking the heights.

So thank you again, Alpha Chi Omega, for being one of the best things that has ever happened to me.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
