An Open Letter To My Stepdad

My Step-Dad taught me so many things, I don't know what I would do without him.

"A Step Parent is a truly amazing person. They made a choice to love another child as their own."

Dear Stepdad,

I want to first start off by saying thank you. Thank you for taking me in as your own child. When my mom decided to start dating again I was scared that I was going to get a person that wouldn't love me or my sister as their own child. I felt that we would be pushed to the side and you would not care for me or my little sister, but you were quite the opposite of a terrible step-parent. You made it known that yes I am not your real dad, but I am going to be the best step-dad that I can possibly be to you and your sister. You make my life very exciting and there is never a dull moment with you around. When you married my mom, I was terrified. I had heard such terrible thing about step-parents and you were far from it. I couldn't imagine not having you in my life. You treated me like your own child when you didn't have to. We take countless trips together and have made such amazing memories with one another. I love that you are so handy and when something needs to be done it gets done no matter what it is. Life can be a little crazy sometimes and I don't get to thank you for all of the amazing things that you have done in my life. You have had such an amazing impact on my life, and I just want to thank you so much. I love you.

Love,

Your Stepchild

People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
