Only You Can Determine Your Life

Life is a game

Only You Can Determine Your Life

No one wakes up everyday and knows exactly how there day is going to go--sure they have an "agenda" but throughout the day there may be some unexpected things occuring. Life is a game. It is a game full of obstacles and surprises. It's inconsistent, unexpected and each person's is unique, but at the end of the day we are all players in this game that develop along the way.

The most interesting thing about life is the way we create our own stories. Life has no guarantees. What fun would it be if each chapter of our life was already written? No one knows what to expect from life, but they figure out who they are/who they want to be/what they like and dislike along the way.

In life we are influenced and shaped due to our experiences, environment and surroundings. People can influence our likes/dislikes, environment can influence our perception of things, experiences can create memories, bad/good, that we can learn from. Only you can determine your life and the type of person you want to be.

Life is a game. Sometimes we fail, and sometimes we succeed. The obstacles that get thrown at us our nothing but tests to see how each individual can truly handle them. When an unexpected turn of events happens we perceive this as a reward. Whoever told you life was easy was lying. As we get older there is more to balance and more hardships we must face. Only you can determine what kind of life you want to live. We are all just players trying to "win" in life. Life is beautiful; life is precious, and it's yours.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
