"Happiness is a choice. You are the only person who can make you happy. You're as happy as you choose to be." -Rick Warren.

While many people may seem happy on the outside, how happy are they on the inside? It's time to stop hiding your doubts, insecurities and unhappiness within. There is only one way to achieve happiness. No one holds the key to the rainbows and sunshine that you wish were in your life. Only you can bring yourself happiness. Here are four reasons why you should stop relying on others for happiness:

1. No one can provide you with self-confidence

“You’re beautiful.” “Your smile can light up a room.” “Your eyes shine brighter than the stars in the sky.” I’m sure these compliments would make any girl fall head over heels for a guy, and it would definitely make them feel pretty confident in herself. But, we’ve all heard it before and how long will that confidence last? If you’re constantly seeking compliments to satisfy your self-esteem, you won’t always be happy with the outcome. Every human has imperfections. Acne is natural, body fat is natural, body hair is natural, and stretch marks are natural. Feel confident in what you have because there is only one YOU.

2. You have to love yourself before you can love someone else

Do you really think that loving someone more than you love yourself is healthy? The answer is…no. It may start off great, you’ll feel happier than you ever have, but that is only from the endorphins running through your body. After awhile you won’t feel as happy as you once did. You become as insecure about you relationship as you are with yourself. Before finding someone to love, you must find yourself.

3. They won’t always be there

Sometimes we are oblivious to the fact that there is a chance we will end up alone. It’s hard to think about, but friends fight, loved ones fight, siblings fight; everyone fights eventually, its human nature. However, you can’t always control the outcome. Someone that you have trusted for years could leave out of the blue. If your happiness is built solely around a friend or boyfriend, if they decide to walk out of your life, your happiness will walk out with them. The only person that will forever be there for you, is you.

“Find balance in your life. Work hard, but don’t let work take over your life; you will lose yourself. Love, but love for the right reasons. Life is too short for anything mediocre. Know who you are and know that you are worthy of reaching your dreams and that it is never too late to start creating that life you have always dreamed of. Do not compare yourself to others, that’s just deadly. No two souls are the same. You are your own person, you are beautiful and you are unique. Put your own trust in the universe. Some things are just meant to happen, and some are not. Let go of whatever is stealing you happiness. It’s hard, but it’s worth it. Embrace change. Embrace life. Everything happens for a reason, sometimes you just need to breathe, trust and let go.” ☺

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
