With technology slowly advancing and becoming more and more important in today's world, there is one aspect most people still can't get over. Online Dating. From Eharmony to Tinder, online dating has become more and more important in today's society. Despite how many people use dating apps/websites, the stigma around it is still major in today's society.
I'll admit, before being convinced by my roommate to join Tinder, I also had a stigma around online dating. The idea of meeting people who are "catfishing" you, or finding people who only want a quick hook-up is mostly all people think about when it comes to online dating. I would make fun of my roommate about all the guys she would meet, thinking that they were catfishing her. But then, I was convinced to join Tinder, and very quickly met a very nice boy who I had started talking to. This made me realize that this stigma needs to end.
In this technology-run world, online dating is a very good way to meet people. The idea that everyone will just meet their soulmate by random chance in real life is unrealistic nowadays. It may be easy for the extraverts of society to meet people and have a bunch of different boyfriends to help find the best fit. But for us introverts who struggle to say so much as, "Hello" to complete strangers, online dating is a great way to get the experience most extraverts find incredibly easy to do.
Though there are many problems that could come from online dating(i.e. the person being a murderer), the chances of these problems actually occurring are very minimal. As long as one stays cautious and smart about the choices one makes regarding meeting their online bae in real life, these problems are unlikely to actually occur.
Personally, I'm very glad I started getting into the world of online dating, because it enabled me to find people I would have never found otherwise, and experience things I never would have previously. So if you think that online dating will only ever end badly, I encourage you to go out and try it out. You might be surprised.
