One Of The Hardest Things In Life Is To Understanding Yourself

Find yourself first before helping others find themselves.

One Of The Hardest Things In Life Is To Understanding Yourself

In life, people struggle every day, whether it is against others, or against themselves -- which is the most difficult struggle of them all. People are great at understanding others, even if they do not quite understand themselves. Mostly, because it is a lot easier to see why others make the choices they make, then the ones you do. People should understand fully themselves before they try to understand others. People tend to offer one another advice quite often when they do not even know what they would actually do in the situation. Before you go around giving advice to everyone, you should think about yourself, because how can you give advice if they do not fully understanding your own advice? So many times there has been someone who had given advice to another and then had struggled when they were put in the same situation.

One of the hardest things in life is to understanding yourself. People can go through their whole lives not knowing why they make the decisions they make. A lot of the time it is based on others, but way too often people give up. Even if they do understand what they want, most do not fight for it. Afraid to either fail or get lost along the way. All it takes is that one decision they make on their own and then they slowly start to reveal themselves.

Something that I see often are people who think they understand themselves but they actually do not. There are a lot of people who base their understanding on other people. As if they feel like they have the same thought process of everyone else when in reality they do not. They hang around people and make the same decisions as others instead of being their own person. Almost like they are too afraid to see where their own decisions will get them. That person was me for a very long time. I was too afraid to make decisions on my own because I did not want to fail, but it only led me to road block and the only way to get through it was to make a decision on my own. To not care what others would think about my choice, and to do what I thought was best. Today, I feel like I understand the ones that reach out to me for advice because I was once in their shoes. I only understood them because of my understanding of myself.

People can only fully understand others if they understand themselves. If everyone would just be their own person and understand what they want and go for it instead of hiding and waiting for someone to go first then maybe everyone would understand each other. There are people that sit there and play video games all day and want to go out and play sports but they are afraid to mess up. Or even the other way around. There are people that play sports, have straight As, work every day and are completely stressed out and want to sit and relax but are too afraid to fall behind. Part of understanding yourself is knowing how much you can handle, and sadly, and lot of people will hit rock bottom before they realize that they need a break. Everyone should figure out what they want, how much they can handle and not base their lives on others and that will lead to a full understanding of themselves, because only they know what they want.

28 Daily Thoughts of College Students

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
