One Of The Greatest Days Of My Life

I flipped through the book and scanned the pages. I saw "Torah" and "Judaism".

One Of The Greatest Days Of My Life

When I took a trip to see my best friend and have a visit with my grandmother in Atlanta, I thought it was just going to be a normal weekend of hanging out with friends and enjoying each other's company. My simple, ordinary weekend turned to the most amazing weekend in just a few hours.

My best friend that I had visited has been thinking about where she stands with religion for a while now. She was raised by her mother on the religion of Judaism, but she always expressed her thoughts with me about how it just didn't feel right to her.

She was discussing with me a couple weeks before I came up about how her friend had taken her to Passion City Church last weekend. She exclaimed to me that she fell in love with the atmosphere of moving talks with people no more than 5-6 years older than us and an amazing band who gives praise to the Lord in a hip and fun way. Not only did she fall in love with the atmosphere, she fell in love with the love that surrounded her and accepted her there.

While my friend was in the church service last weekend, she said to me that she felt this presence come over her. "I didn't know what it was but I just felt like something was there with me." Me, having known what this feeling felt like, knew what she had felt and was there with her the whole time at the church service this Sunday.

During the sermon, the pastor gave an amazing speech on many different topics. A woman came in during the middle of the sermon and asked if the seat next to me was taken and I told that she could take the seat, for no one was sitting there. Anyway, the pastor ended the service with praying to God and allowing anyone who wanted to give their life to God to raise their hand and to be prayed over in that moment.

I looked to her and her face was filled with tears and she lifted her hand. My heart in that moment felt a presence so strong that I began crying myself. All of our friends began to realize what she had done and literally climbed over the rows of chairs to give her comfort. I was with a close friend that decided to give her life to God and it was an amazing moment.

After the service, everyone surrounding her was so happy and excited for her. It was a moment filled with awe. This woman next to me said, "Was she one of the people who gave their life to Christ?" And I said she had converted from Judaism and accepted Jesus in her heart. She turned to my friend and said, "Can I hug you?" My friend gladly accepted and hugged her so tightly. "I am so happy for you and cannot wait for you to experience what God has in store for you. May I walk you over to Access?" My friend agreed for Access was something they have at Passion City Church where people can pray over those who have just accepted Christ.

I followed alongside my friend with this woman, tears still falling from my face. We sat at a table and prayed to God over my friend. The woman that sat next to me stood against the wall, holding her hand out to my friend as we prayed.

After praying, we walked outside to a wall that reads "JESUS IS LIFE" in lit up light bulbs with some spaces missing. This wall was meant for people to screw in a lightbulb for when they Accept Christ.

My friend screwed in her lightbulb and cheers erupted. She came down from the stairs and I wrapped her in my arms, crying profusely. She began talking to everyone else and receiving the love from everyone around.

I was talking to one of our friends when Brooke came over to me and handed this book. She said to me, "The woman that sat next to you gave me this book." "Well what is it?" asked I, not really understanding why this woman would give my friend a book. "She told me that her mother gave everyone one of her kids this book. She wanted me to have it."

I flipped through the book and scanned the pages. I saw, "Torah" and "Judaism." You're probably thinking the same thing I did..."WHAT?"

The woman that sat next to me gave my friend who JUST accepted Christ and converted to Christianity from Judaism, a BOOK ON CONVERTING FROM JUDAISM TO CHRISTIANITY. I'm thinking, "Holy cheese and rice, what in tarnation, how the heck is this possible?"

That woman was sat next to me for a reason. She was placed there for THAT VERY REASON. I have never felt the Holy Spirit's power so vividly and drastically.

I wanted to share this story with all of you reading this for one reason: you may not believe in a higher power, but there is a God out there and this proves it.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
