One Nation, Under God

In all things, God gets the glory.

One Nation, Under God

I usually try to keep away from posting anything political online but this isn't meant to stir up conflict in the least bit.

In this season of our latest national election, we've seen just about everything other than robots taking over. (Which according to the students I work with, is coming soon). I've seen a lot of opinions being posted everywhere and it hurts my heart to see people who are normally very friendly in person posting extremely hurtful things about the other party's views. Brothers are turning on brothers and people are bashing one another simply because of different views on subjects. With all that being said, I have hope.

Listen, I promise I'm not 100% crazy. I have an explanation for this hope. It's God. No matter what happens, we have a hope that transcends whoever is in charge. At the end of the day, we can make our plans, we can do all these different things we want but God is still sovereign. God isn't just sitting up in Heaven waiting for us to fail. He's involved in this and I believe that He will ultimately get glory from everything. Whether it be Trump or Clinton elected into office doesn't really matter. No matter who is in the Oval Office, God is still on the Throne of Heaven. It says in Romans 8:18, "I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us." I have hope and faith in God that in all things, He is going to get the glory.

With that being said, do not neglect this election. Get out and vote. Please don't think that your voice doesn't matter. Yes, it is just one vote but it is so much more than that. It is a civic duty and a privilege to be able to vote. In 2014, a little over 44% of countries were able to vote for their leader. This means that 56% of countries in the world are not able to have a say in who represents them to the world. We are fortunate as Americans to be able to vote. Please do not take this for granted. If you really want to change this world, vote. It's simple. You even get a cool sticker for doing it!

Also, before you even think about voting, please pray. It's time to stop praying small prayers. If we honestly believe that God can change this nation, shouldn't we pray like it? Just some food for thought.

If you're still curious about this subject, my pastor, mentor, and personal hero Bro. Nick Garland explained this in a way I cannot do any justice to. If you want more, https://livestream.com/fbcba/events/4173366/videos/141162692

Much love and God bless.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

10 Things Only Equestrians Understand

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
