The water runs around my body,
Splashes up my legs,
Cool, crisp, cuts into me.
The sun burns over my body,
Folds over my shoulders,
Hot, hypnotic, heats my blood.
The air folds around my body,
Rests on my skin,
Uncaring, unmerciful, unyielding of relief.
The petals rush down the river,
Winding through the current,
Delicate, dainty, drifting out of sight.
The memories rush through my mind,
Images of summers past,
Relaxing, reckless, Richard’s favorite place in the world.
