Summertime, the perfect time of year to sip lemonade and Margaritas by the pool and late nights outside with the fireflies. While everyone’s getting bikini body ready, I’m in the kitchen baking any and everything. The summer for me consists of trying new recipes, new books, and the gym—because of course it’s summer and bikini season is among us. So take a break from lifting weights and try out some of my favorite recipes, granted most of these I found watching The Pioneer Woman.
Brown Sugar Oatmeal Cookies
I could not and still can’t get enough of these. That’s why they are no longer in my house. These are literally the best oatmeal cookies I’ve ever had. The brown sugar adds an oomph that is usually not found in most oatmeal cookies. Even my little brother, the pickiest of eaters, enjoyed this one! I will definitely be adding this one to my own recipe book. The ingredient list is quite simple and super easy to make. You can thank Ree Drummond, The Pioneer Woman, for this one! http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ree-drummond/br...
Old Fashioned Peach Cobbler
I stumbled upon this recipe from Pinterest because I had extra peaches after making a peach cake. I am usually not one for any cooked fruit, but this cobbler recipe is divine. The peaches were tart which complimented the sweet topping nicely. The great thing about cobblers is that you can use this recipe for about any fruit and without having to find a new recipe for each. This cobbler is great on a hot summer day with sweet vanilla ice cream on top. http://www.letsdishrecipes.com/2015/07/old-fashion...
Cheesy Cajun Biscuits
So Ree calls these her breakfast biscuits but I thought this was a more appropriate name. These biscuits are not like any other. They have an added kick to them, cayenne pepper. It gives a nice spice to your biscuits and goes absolutely awesome with the cheddar cheese. Trust me, once you have one, you won’t be able to stop yourself from getting several more. This will definitely be a favorite during your dinners or brunch! http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ree-drummond/br...
Key Lime Pie
This is a new one for me. I am usually not a key lime pie fan, but it has been growing on me. It’s such a wonderful spring/summer dessert. The color of the pie is not only happy and bright, but also the filling. The tartness of the key limes with the sweetness from the graham cracker crust make this dessert a must have summer treat! This is another Pioneer Woman recipe and the easiest at that. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ree-drummond/ke...
Banana Bread
I hate to waste bananas but it is super hard not to when they over ripe faster than you can eat them. That’s really no problem in my household because I love to make and eat banana bread. There’s just something so comforting in eating banana bread whether it’s fresh out the oven or the day after. Not only is banana bread great during the summer, but year round also. You can have this for breakfast, snack or even dessert with sweet vanilla ice cream or even whipped cream. The possibilities are endless. This is my favorite banana bread recipe but what isn’t added is cinnamon. I personally like to add a teaspoon or two for a little something special. https://measureofsuccess.wordpress.com/2012/07/29/...
Cream Cheese Pound Cake
First off I should say that I’m not a fan of pound cake but this is the exception. This is probably the best pound cake I have ever had. I think the cream cheese is what makes it taste absolutely divine. It’s my go to recipe anytime I need to bake for an event because it’s a definite crowd pleaser, plus most of the ingredients are already in your home. Like the banana bread this can be eaten fresh out of the oven or days later, still tasting absolutely yummy. http://cocinandoconalena.blogspot.com.ar/2014/03/c...
As you can see, I definitely have a sweet tooth. Try out these recipes, they will not disappoint. If you’re a foodie like me, you can find lots of other awesome recipes on Pinterest as well as checking out the Food Network! The Pioneer Woman is one of my absolute favorites because all of her recipes are family friendly. You will be cooking up a storm in no time. Life is short so get a slice of pie and lounge out during the rest of the day. You have all the time in the world to gym after.
