I wish they all could be Florida girls.

Florida is a strange state; from the people in it to its climate, it is, at the least, unique. Many don't realize that Florida isn't all palm trees and beaches. North Florida offers farm land and good ole Southern roots. With such a diverse terrain and climate, Florida is also home to unique and diverse people, especially girls. Here are some reasons why once you date a Florida girl, you'll never go back:

1. We can handle any weather climate that comes our way.

It's Florida. One minute the sun is shining and the next it's a torrential downpour. No matter the weather, we are cool and calm and not one bit surprised.

2. We know how to deal with crazy.

Again, it's Florida. The Sunshine State has been known to have a host of wild events occur and also houses some of the craziest people in the U.S. That being said, as a Florida girl, you just know to accept it and move on because, well, it's Florida.

3. We love football.

Whether you're a Seminole through and through or you're unfortunately a Gator or Hurricane (or if you're more an NFL type of girl), Florida girls love their football.

4. We're ready for any adventure that comes our way.

Florida girls enjoy days in swampy lands, by the beach, in the woods, and pretty much anywhere else. They are always ready for an adventure to Disney World, anywhere by the water, or anywhere the day takes them.

5. We have clothes for any day.

Bipolar weather calls for a wardrobe that is just as versatile. Do you need cowgirl boots, rain boots, tall boots, flip flops, or heels? Yeah, we've got them and we probably wore each one day in the same week.

6. We know how to have fun.

Florida girls know how to have a good time. We have hurricane parties after all.

7. We have a sense of humor.

You have to have a sense of humor to survive in Florida.

8. We're smart.

Florida has some of the best universities in the country and we're proud of it.

10. We're versatile.

Florida girls can go from a week spent in the classroom or office to a night out on the town or a weekend at the beach.

11. We know how to drive.

From tsunami weather to the Florida turnpike and dodging all the senior citizens, Florida girls know how to drive.

12. We're strong.

Let's face it, you have to be strong to live here.

13. We aren't afraid to stand out.

Florida stands out from all the other states and so do the girls in it.

14. We're sweet and spicy.

From north Florida to Miami, Florida girls can be super sweet, very spicy, or somewhere in between. They can even insult you by saying, "Bless your heart".

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
