This is what you have worked so hard for.

I was there. I know you felt alone but I was there. The sleepless nights, the days you were so busy that you forgot to eat, the nights you scolded yourself for going out with the family when you should have been studying. Yeah, I was there but it was you who pulled it off. I saw the tears and heard the prayers coming from your room late at night when you should have been sleeping. With tears in your eyes, I watched you finish assignments you just knew you were gonna fail. Now thatis courage.

I watched you throw your heavy backpack over your shoulders and with eyes that told me you hadn't slept all night, you studied at school all day and then worked until late that night. I saw you gloat about one grade and cry about another all in the same day. I watched you regain motivation and lose it in an hours time. I sat back and watched college slowly drain all of the precious life out of you but you never gave up. You continued to fight and look at you now.

Now that you're graduating, everything is going to change. No more scheduling your life around school AND work. No more wasting five hundred dollars on a book you will never open. No more locking yourself away in your room until that 15-page paper is completed. No more waking up 7 a.m. to drive 30 mins just to find out that class was canceled. No more nights stressing out over a test you just couldn't seem to pass and no more feeling like this day would never come. It is finally here.

It has been a long, hard, and stressful four years and this is just from a girl looking in. You never seem to give yourself enough credit. You did it. You turned in the assignments, you passed the tests, you aced the essays and you EARNED your degree. This is a huge accomplishment and I hope you take it as such. No one can take this from you. You can finally breathe. You made it and I could not be more proud of you. I could never amount to your strength or courage and I am so blessed with your presence.

You can finally say goodbye to this part of your life and say hello to a whole new reality. I am so excited for you. So here's to something bold, fresh, and new. One chapter of your life is closing and you're about to dominate the next chapter. I cannot wait to see what brilliant things you do this time. Congratulations and don't forget to pop the champagne and celebrate like you never have before. You deserve it. I love you.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
