How much time do you spend a day on your make-up? I think the answer is a little bit different for everyone. In this new age, people are trying to look more and more superficial. Contouring and looking like the Kardashians is said to be the norm. People don’t even look like themselves and our definition of beautiful is totally warped. Why do we continue to emulate other people and not magnify our own beauty? Is society too far gone or can we recover and create our own self beauty again? When was the last time you looked in the mirror and smiled at yourself?
Self care is important and can help maintain your natural beauty. When was the last time you ran on the treadmill and really felt the sweat? I dare you to go on the treadmill and sweat out all those bad toxins. This will leave your skin glowing and you will feel refreshed. Do you know what make-up does to your skin? A lot of make-up will clog your pores and actually make you break out more. It is important to make sure there is no red dye in the make-up and that you use a moisturizer before make-up is applied. It is important that you are aware of what make-up is best for your skin.
Every day, I do put on mascara and lip gloss but that’s the extent of it. For special occasions, I will do more and possibly even some contouring. But it’s not an everyday occurrence, like others tend to do. Who am I to judge anyone? I am just making a point about how some people HAVE to do this routine everyday. Who are you without all the make-up on? Are you even doing it for yourself or others? People are spending loads of money and paying for all this make-up that is overpriced. It is advertised by all these airbrushed and unrealistic models and entice people to buy the products. I say, we break this trend and be our own people.
Make up your mind and forget about the Kardashians or what the make up ad looks like. Stop comparing yourself to others because it's not beneficial, it’s self deaerating. It is inevitable that we all are going to be influenced by society but to what extent? Confidence is key; the rest will follow. Remind yourself, you are beautiful, you are kind and you are smart. I think the coolest thing you can do is maintain your individualism. Make-up is just another accessory — you shouldn’t let it define you.
Have you ever been told you have a beautiful smile? Or something that stands out that makes you unique and beautiful? A wise person once told me, “Your smile could light up a whole room. Don’t be like Zoolander, with the duck lips.” Duck lips and looking emotionless is the new “beautiful.” People think wrinkles make us ugly or old looking, but I think they mean you have lived. Make-up is an accessory, not a necessity.
