Brazil has been facing one of its biggest economic crisis of the country since March of 2015. Massive protests against the government have been taking the streets for over three years. Authorities are failing to fight the Zika virus. Violence is on the rise. The President of the country has been removed from office while an impeachment process takes place. Many of the members of Congress are currently under investigation for corruption. Needless to say, the country is a mess.
The Olympic Games will start in 26 days and Brazil is definitely not ready. Just like what happened in 2014 with the World Cup, the biggest country of South America shouldn't have taken responsibility for an event of this importance in such horrendous times.
Brazilians are tired. Extremely tired. They are tired of the government trying to show to the rest of the world a Brazil that doesn't exist anymore. "The most enthusiastic nation of the world" it is not the same from 20 years ago. People are not happy because they are suffering in the hands of politicians who do not care about their health and education. They are tired of being made of puppets.
The 2016 Olympics have everything to be a disaster. Brazil was late building the structure to host the Games and it's only catching up now. Most venues are, surprisingly, still under construction. The New York Times called the Games in Rio "an unnatural disaster."
Brazil is lacking interest and commitment. Bacteria was found in waters where athletes will compete more than months ago and still nothing has been done. Trash and contamination are everywhere and foreigners are afraid to even coming to see the Games.
Brazilians are ashamed and the government, again, remains silent.
