The Olympics are easily one of the best times of every two years. Personally, I don't care if it's the winter or summer Olympics, I just love the Olympics. Who doesn't? These games are a long tradition that brings so many athletes together so us "normal people", can enjoy watching the wonder that is these amazing athletes.
The number one reason the Olympics are the best time of the year is that they include so many different sports and events. There is something for everyone. Personally, my favorite events in the summer Olympic games are diving and swimming (I just think it's cool that those people are so fast.) Obviously, the winter Olympics have figure skating and slopestyle skiing, more personal favorites. No matter how you feel about sports, we can all agree that watching these people who train harder than anyone in the world, is truly amazing. It is, however, important to remember not to compare yourself to an Olympic athlete because you are amazing in your own way. Some of us were meant to be Olympic athletes, others meant to eat a whole pizza while watching said, athletes.
On top of this, the Olympics bring the world together in so many ways. Not only does it provide some healthy competition, but it is amazing to see so many athletes from all around the world support each other and keep good sportsmanship throughout the entire duration of the games. It shows that, although this world contains so much violence at times, there are ways in which we can come together safely and have fun at the same time (I assume the athletes have fun, they always say it in interviews).
Something many people don't realize about the games every year and the athletes competing, is the inspiration they provide for so many millions of people. Aspiring Olympic athletes all over the world are choosing one of these incredible athletes to look up to and pull inspiration from. They one day compete in the games because of previous athletes who inspired them to keep training and working harder than anyone else. Not only do they inspire athletes around the world but people in general. I love watching and I don't know about anyone else, but how can you not be inspired by someone like Simone Biles? Or Michael Phelps? These two train so hard and dominate while representing the USA and to me, that is inspiring in general.
Whether you watch the Olympics or not, they are a great asset to this world. They provide so much healthy competition, inspiration and all around fun. However, when it comes down to it, U-S-A all the way (cue Phelps face).
