Tis the season for millions and billions of people across the world glued to their TV to watch other (more talented and athletically inclined) people totally dominate and play nail biting games. But of course, while waiting for your fave event to start there have been some really amazing sports that go unnoticed but are definitely worth watching. Let's check out a few (in no specific order)!
1. Diving
I know it probably seems boring, but before you know it, you're yelling at them through the TV because they "weren't vertical" or their splash was "too big!". Trust me, by the end of the day, you'll also be looking up the rules to diving.
2. Gymnastics
Final Five. Need I say anything more? I mean, those girls literally inspire me to become a gymnast everyday (is it too late?). Their PERFECT floor routines, bars, and everything else makes it so hard to believe they're only 16.
3. Any Running Event (Including the one Bolt is in)
He'll probably win 99.9% of the races but it's so fascinating to watch someone run that fast, and it's even better to watch individuals or relay teams come so close to beating him! And it's crazy to see that people are actually really good at running, and enjoy doing it.
4. Swimming
Of course you have to watch swimming, especially when you get to watch one of the greatest olympians, Michael Phelps, swim so well, it's hard to believe he's not part fish. And although most of the time, you know that Phelps is likely to win, you still watch, especially when you can't wait to watch him show Le Clos up!
5. Indoor/Beach Volleyball
So maybe we didn't make it to the gold medal games, but if you've had your TV on at all during the olympics, you've probably managed to catch a few minutes of either volleyball. And let's face it, Walsh-Jennings and Ross gave you an awesome nail biter of a game both in the semi final and bronze match. And although the USA Indoor Women's volleyball team lost to Serbia (still too soon to talk about without crying inside); that was also one hell of a game!
