Dear Best Friend,

This letter is long overdue. Part the reason I procrastinated writing this letter is because I can't quite put into words how special our friendship is. There isn't a word quite yet to describe exactly how special our friendship is. You are not quite like any other friend I have. You are not just a friend to me. You are my best friend, but even best doesn't quite describe you.

You have done so many things. You have invited me to stay the summer when I couldn't make it home. Even when you are several states away, you stay up late to talk to me. You hate drama, but you always listen to mine anyways. We have sleepovers in your room when I get locked out of mine. You make me smile when I think there are no more reasons for smiling. You talk with me on the phone with me for three hours straight. Now that's some dedication! Making time to go on a walk with me when I just need to vent is your specialty. To let me know that you are thinking of me, you send packages. Random texts from you make my day. You support me in my dreams when no one else will. You hold me when all I need is a shoulder to cry on and you give me a new passion in life. I could ramble for days about things you have done, but there are also things you refuse to do.

Spreading rumors is something you refuse to do. You know that bringing me down will never bring you up. When it is easy to judge, you refuse. You have so many opportunities to make me look like a fool, yet you decline the chance to do so. Pushing buttons is something that you refuse to do. You refuse to get in the way of my dreams and let me give up on my dreams.

You are the epitome of what a best friend represents. You able to listen to me talk, even if you don't get to say much. You care about me more than I ever thought was possible. You are also able to be my kind of crazy. Now that takes special talent! You have created a feeling of trust. I am even able to share some of my deepest feelings with you. You even know some of my darkest secrets. You are even willing to give up what you want so that you can keep our friendship.

I can never put into words how grateful I am that we crossed paths and are still friends. You have brought a new light into my life. I never want to lose you as a friend. You have changed my life for the better. My life will never be the same because of you. Thank you for being my best friend!

Love,

Your Best Friend

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
