Is chivalry really dead? According to 2017, yes. Nowadays, technology is changing more than ever, with the increase in phones and apps, allowing people look down at their phones when things get uncomfortable. I like the uncomfortable, and I like the fact that when you don't have technology at your disposal, you actually interact with people face-to-face.
I feel like I was robbed of the romance. Have you ever felt you were born in the wrong era? Here are some old-fashioned dating habits we should make popular again:
1. Handwritten letters: Alright, no one has to be Shakespeare, but writing letters is often the key to hearts. It's a way to take time out of your day, to write down your feelings, and show someone you care for them. The "hallmark" moments await - and it doesn't have to be lovey-dovey, it could just be about your day or a little cute post-it notes saying you care.
2. Technology free: Cell phones off, ladies and gentlemen. Guess what? Silence will be awkward. BUT who cares, at least you will be awkward together and get a conversation out of it.
3. Opening doors for each other: Simple acts of kindness are often the greatest ones.
4. Creating mixtapes: YES, bringing it back to the 80's where you'd be standing outside of a girl's window with a boombox on your shoulder. Not quite for 2017, but a playlist will do.
5. Being on time: Back in the days, you didn't want to have a bad impression from their parents if you arrived late. Everyone arrived early, but it seems like today's society, the lateness factor seems to be a "cool" thing to do. Being on time means you care, stick with that motto.
6. Be clear and on the same page: With hookup culture being so prominent in today's culture, many lines are blurred - whether it's having sex or being in a relationship. It's great to establish clear lines to know what you're getting yourself into. Communication is key, and that will keep your relationship going.
