At the beginning of my college career, I messed up. From the first failure, I became stressed, overwhelmed, and fell into depression, and believed that I was not good enough for anything. I was told I did not belong in the Communications major at my first University that I attended, and I let a guy get in the way of my education.
However, after re-discovering myself at my local community college, and meeting many older college students, some that are in their 30's or 40's still striving to do the best in their life. That's what motivated me to keep going. No matter what the struggle was, I had to keep fighting and discovering my passions. During my time in college, I've changed my major about five times until I realized what I wanted to do.
In 2017, I graduated with an Associates in Arts and a certification in Business Skills. With that cleared away, I am currently attending a four-year school where I am now double majoring - it's hard work, and I do have a bit longer to go until I obtain my B.A., but it will be worth it in the long run.
As a 23 year-old in school, I still believe I have the potential to succeed, I am taking my time to finish school and to figure out what career is best for me. As of now, writing and business are two of the careers I see myself going into.
As a student who has been in school since 2013, don't let others bring you down because you are going at a slower pace.
During my time in school, I've been asked constantly if it's awkward or weird to be around others that are younger than me. To be frank, it is uncomfortable when others confront me with this question. However, I don't let phase me. I use it as motivation.
To reiterate again, if you are like me, 23 and still in school, don't let deter you. Keep going, and don't stop being successful.
