First off, congratulations! You're about to begin the best four years of your life. College is a fun and exciting experience. Here are some tips and tricks for your time at Oklahoma State University. Go Pokes!

Stillwater: A place that becomes a part of you.

Stillwater, Oklahoma. This town is a very special place. It has all of the small town vibes, but the conveniences of a larger city (This is coming from a girl who came from a very small rural town). There are grocery stores, clothing stores, a movie theater, a bowling alley, and skating rink. You can always find something to do or someone to hang out with in Stillwater!

Best Places to Eat!

There are so MANY good places to eat in Stillwater. There are several dining places on OSU's campus. Definitely use that meal plan! Off campus, you can find just about anything you want. My personal favorites include The Garage, Texas Roadhouse, and Chili's.

Don't forget the coffee and tea! There are so many cool coffee shops around town. There is Aspen Coffee, Balance Coffee, and the Coffee House. There is also a super cute tea shop called Simplicity and Co. All four of these places have places to study while enjoying a hot beverage.

Party Time!

Nightlife in Stillwater is unique. There are several places to kick back and enjoy a good drink.

  1. "The Strip" (Washington Street) is a favorite among college students. Home to places like Murphy's, The Copper Penny, Willy's, and Outlaws - the Strip is busy all weekend long.
  2. The famous Tumbleweed Dancehall is another favorite among students. Tumbleweed has the largest dance floor in Stillwater so dust off those cowboy boots!

We've got spirit, yes we do!

Oklahoma State University sporting events are always fun! You will probably want to invest in a sports pass for game day. This pass allows you to sit in the student section at home events. The energy of the student section is like nothing you have ever experienced. The fight song, the rallying, singing "friends in low places," and the alma mater - nothing can beat it! Go to every event you can. OSU's homecoming celebration is one of the largest in the country and it is so much fun! From the orange fountain to the sign contest, pomping, the parade, and the game - this is one you cannot miss!

Weather…

"If you don't like the weather, wait a minute… It will change." When moving to Oklahoma State you will want to pack clothes for literally every season. Layers are a good idea. The summers are always hot, but the fall can be tricky. You'll want to wear layers because it's chilly in the mornings and hot in the afternoons. Then you will want warm clothes for winter.

Before you move to Stillwater there are a handful of words/phrases that you will want to know:

  1. Go Pokes! - This phrase is appropriate for any occasion.
  2. Bedlam - The biggest rivalry in Oklahoma. This is the match up between Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma (OU). This applies to any activity. It's one of the biggest events of the season!
  3. Pomping - Stuffing tissue paper into chicken wire to create the beautiful homecoming displays.
  4. Orange Friday - Every Friday of the year your'e supposed to wear America's Brightest Orange!
  5. Pistol Pete - the best mascot in America!

Good luck! The next 4 years of your life are going to be great!

Blair Waldorf

The "Gossip Girl" series may be over, but Blair Waldorf's iconic character lives in our hearts forever. Blair was the queen of the Upper East Side, and a character you either loved or hated. She taught us everything we needed to know about life, love and of course, how to score a Chuck Bass. So the next time you feel a bit lost and are in need of guidance, look no further than to the Queen B herself.

As I spend my Sunday avoiding my homework and other adult responsibilities, I realized that I've watched this series over and over about a million times. Sadly, there isn't a Blair quote I don't know, so I came up with a list of a few favorites. You know you love her...xoxo

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Syllabus Week As Told By Kourtney Kardashian

Feeling Lost During Syllabus Week? You're Not Alone!

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.
