Top 11 Things That New Fans Think At Their First OSU Football Game
Oklahoma State Fan (newsok)

Those of you who've been to Stillwater on gameday know that Oklahoma State is a special place for football. The sounds, the lights, and the person next to you about to pop an artery as they cheer on the Cowboys. For those of you who have yet to go to your first Cowboy football game, there's probably going to be some strange things you see, and the thoughts running through your head might be pretty similar to what's on this list.

11. Holy crap! There's a horse on the field!!

Don't worry, that's actually planned (most of the time).

10. Are the Cowboy marching band shapeshifters?

Unfortunately, there's no witchcraft here, just talent, and a lot of it.

9. Who's everybody waving at?

Just think of this as the equivalent of wishing the opponents a safe trip home.

8. How the heck does anyone park in this town?!

Still trying to figure out this one myself.

7. Why is everyone leaning back and forth?

We have to Ride Em' Cowboys, and since we don't all have horses, we have to get creative.

6. There's a dude with a gun on the field!!

Are you questioning the only sheriff in this Cowboy town?!?

5. Everyone's getting a little too touchy with this "alma mater" thing.

Shouldn"t have signed up to be a part of the Cowboy family if you don't want all the hugs!

4. Why is everyone yelling "OH!"? Did somebody get dissed or something?

C'mon this is first grade spelling: "O" is the first letter in "O-S-U"... but I guess we could be dissing the other team subconsciously...

3. "I love DJ Khaled! ... and everytime I step up in the building everybody's hands go.... what's everybody doing???"

"O-S-U, and they stay there, and they stay there, and they stay there, up, down, up, down, up, down!!"... I'm sorry, what was the question?

2. Why's that dude in a costume? It's not Halloween.

Gameday, Halloween, pretty much the same thing I guess.

1.Why does OSU have so many points?

I'll refer you back to #3; all we do is win! (JW Walsh and fans after 84-0 win over Savannah State)

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
