I Am Okay With Being The Girl Who Goes To Concerts Constantly

They may take most of my paychecks, but they give me pure happiness in return.

Music can automatically turn a bad day into a good day, so it makes sense that attending concerts fill me with extreme joy. The best part is that there is literally a song for every single mood or occasion you could ever imagine.

Yeah, sometimes it stings to click the purchase tickets button depending on how much its costing you, but believe me it's so beyond worth it in the end. For some concerts, I may be spending an entire paycheck but to me that's okay. The mind set that I have is that I’d so much rather spend hundreds on a concert that I’ll be creating unforgettable memories at rather than spend hundreds of dollars on materialistic items. Memories are forever but miscellaneous objects are not.

I was never really a concert person until I started working and was able to purchase concert tickets with my own money. My first concert I attended was only a few years ago, but I still remember like it was yesterday. I had a smile plastered on my face while on my way to see my childhood crushes, The Jonas Brothers. Now since my first concert experience, I've been to over 25 concerts, which may not seem like a lot but within a few year span, it is.

Just this summer alone I went to 6 concerts. If I ever added up how much I have spent on concert tickets in general, nevermind just this summer, I would probably want to cry. But I choose not to look at the big picture, I choose to look at the amount I've spent on each individual concert and how the money spent is all worth it. I've had the opportunity to attend some pretty amazing concerts, which I'm so grateful for. I've been able to see Beyonce not once but twice! Not to mention the second time I was only 20 rows away from her!

If you haven't been to many concerts then you just won't understand and will forever judge me for spending an excessive amount of money to attend them. For all my fellow concert goers, you truly understand the jitters that take over your body whenever a concert you want to attend is announced. The second I get a notification that one of my favorite artists have announced a tour location in the Boston area, I might as well say bye-bye paycheck for that week. I have no problem spending a whole weeks paycheck if that means I get to gather at a stadium or venue with other fellow music fanatics and just enjoy a night of music and pure happiness. Everyone is constantly commenting that I must have no sense of worth for money if I'm constantly wasting money on concerts. I think I can speak for every concert fanatic, first off it is never a waste of money and, second of all, ‘Boy, Bye’ don't judge. Aside from constantly hearing peoples opinions, I constantly get comments about how obnoxiously long my Snapchat stories are when attending a concert. And to that comment, my response is you're welcome for sharing the amazing concert experience with you through videos.

Concerts are not just the three or four-hour experience while you're at the venue. The second your search to purchase tickets start so does your concert experience. Once you click the purchase button you have something to look forward too, that's how I get through most days. In between purchasing the tickets and attending is the period of extreme excitement and the time to figure out what in the world you are going to wear.

Then, finally, the day is here, you're getting all dolled up while listening to the artist's albums, new and old, on replay. You jump in the car and become the obnoxious people who are blaring music while jamming out, but you have no shame because you are on the way to the concert.

Now, here comes the moment when you step foot into the venue, make it to your seats and in some cases scream in excitement depending close to the stage you are. The second the artists makes their appearance on stage, they start to sing the songs you've been obsessed with since it was released. Then, all of a sudden, all of your worries are washed away by the music, nothing else matters and for those few hours, you are genuinely happy. You're about to dance, sing, scream and cry (happy tears, of course) your whole night away. And the best part is, no ones going to judge you because they're too busy making a fool out of themselves as well. Everyone surrounding you is just like you. In some way or another, this specific artist has impacted each and every one of you in that venue.

I don’t know about you, but my favorite part is when the lights go off, phone flashlights are turned on and the artist stops mid-song and encourages the audience the sing the lyrics together. In that moment we all become one and chills are sent through my entire body. We all are head bobbing, yelling out the lyrics together while admiring the success and how much the artist has accomplished. We all sit there thankful for everything the artist has done for us through the gift of music.

Everyone has those moments that they want to relive, and each concert I attend would be the moments I choose.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…
