Finally! The moment we've all been waiting for, another season of Orange is the New Black to binge watch in a single day. Our favorite characters return and some of them (SPOILER ALERT) leave us, completely breaking our hearts. During this season, we are reminded of why all of us are so hooked on this show (especially since through the seasons, each story line revolves less and less around Piper Chapman). But, regardless, our relationship and connection with these characters continue to grow and our emotions continue to overflow when it comes to these awesome and bad ass girls that we call Litchfield inmates.
Personally, this season is my absolute favorite, disregarding the amount of crying that took place while watching it. This season took on a whole new level of addressing real, current world issues, such as the Black Lives Matter movement and police brutality. We get the whole nine yards in this season, whether everyone likes it or not. But, this is what makes the show so appealing and so important to many of its fans, because it is realistic. It involves real life situations and real issues — sexism, racism, prejudice, LGBT hate, etc. The characters and story lines completely blow me away every season and what is even better is that the actors of these characters actually play their part in fighting hate and racism in real life. Clearly, the show has allowed them to establish wonderful friendships and their fame has given them the power to make change and use their platform for only good things.
New blood, old blood, this season completely blew me away. If you haven't watched yet, get on that immediately; and, if you haven't watched any of it, GET ON THAT. You could easily finish all four seasons before the fifth one arrives.
