Summertime in Ohio is the greatest part of the year. There's no more school, you have so much free time, vacations to amazing locations, and hanging out with your friends. If you want some unique locations to hit up with your friends to show off on your Insta, then look no further than this list of the weird and interesting.

1. The Great Serpent Mound


Located in Peebles, Ohio, this prehistoric effigy mound was created by the Fort Ancient People around 1000 BCE to 200 BCE. It's 1,330 feet long and it's supposed to represent a serpent swallowing an egg.

2. American Sign Museum

If you love interesting signs, then look no further than in Cincinnati, Ohio. This is an Instagram haven with its neon lights and interesting signs that date all the way back to the 1800s.

3. Chateau Laroche

This castle, built and owned by the eternal bachelor Harry Andrews, this is a replica of a real-life medieval castle, scaled down to size by one fifth. Located in Loveland, Ohio, this place is also said to be haunted due to Andrews accidentally setting himself on fire while cooking at the castle.

Check it out and maybe you'll capture his spirit.

4. The Ohio State Reformatory

The Mansfield Reformatory, located in Mansfield, Ohio is a beautiful piece of architecture in and of itself. The prison was built in 1886 and held all kinds of prisoners during it's run. It's also one of the most haunted places in the United States due to the number of unsettled souls who never escaped their prison sentence. They also host a haunted house every Halloween.

6. Buckland Gallery of Witchcraft and Magick

If you're ever in Cleveland, take some time to check this place out. This Gallery hosts the Long Island Covens collection of witchcraft paraphernalia and other weird objects.

7. Cornhenge

Even though you can pretty much walk outside and see a field of corn anywhere you are in Ohio, you can also go Insta concrete versions of corn down in Dublin, Ohio. They're actually much taller than they look, sitting at 6 feet tall. Don't try and eat it though, you might chip a tooth.

8. Dittrick Medical Museum

Cleveland Medical Library Association. Some of the focus in the museum is about childbirth and contraception but there is also supplies involved with surgical equipment.

9. The Avrocar

The aliens have landed! This is the Avro Canada VZ-9 aircraft that was part of a secret military project during the Cold War.

10. Kelleys Island Winery Ruins

Are you a fan of wine? Well then look no further than Kelleys Island! This place used to be a huge winery until a vine disease decided to eat up all the grapes vines. What's left is the beautiful stone ruins that resemble a castle that used to hold 350,000 gallons of champagne and wine.

11. Blair Museum of Lithophanes

Lithophanes are slates of stone that are detailed to show an image when the image has a backlight. Located in Toledo, Ohio, this was the original 3D image. It was a super popular art form in the Victorian era.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
