Ohio State Will Be Just Fine

Take a deep breath, Buckeye fans.

For Ohio State fans, it was a rough weekend; however, the Buckeyes are going to be just fine.

Despite losing on the road to unranked Penn State, Ohio State only dropped to number six in the AP Top 25. Luckily for the Buckeyes, they are still well situated to make the College Football Playoff.

The remaining schedule for Ohio State includes home games against Northwestern, Nebraska and Michigan, along with road games versus Maryland and Michigan State. If Urban Meyer can lead the Buckeyes on a five game winning streak, they will have two wins against top ten opponents, and beating Michigan would clinch the Big Ten East. Winning the Big Ten East will virtually guarantee a spot in the College Football Playoff.

Their schedule positions them well, but history is also on the Buckeyes side. Urban Meyer has won three National Championships, and each of those teams has lost one game during their season. His 2014-2015 Ohio State team lost early in the season to Virginia Tech, but then proceeded to win 13 consecutive games en route to a National Championship.

Another good sign for the Buckeyes is the poise of quarterback JT Barrett. The offense has been relying heavily on Barrett in the recent weeks, which is partially why the Buckeyes were unable to generate much in Happy Valley Saturday night. In spite of this, Barrett is the perfect leader for this team moving forward. They are young, which is why some experts don't believe in them, but Barrett has faced more adversity than most collegiate quarterbacks.

Barrett tore his ACL in his senior year of high school, forcing him to redshirt behind Braxton Miller as a freshman. As a redshirt freshman, after an impressive regular season, he broke his ankle in the final quarter of the Michigan game, resulting in him missing the College Football Playoff run. When he returned from that injury he lost his starting job to Cardale Jones, only to regain the job by the end of the season. These obstacles make Barrett a great leader, which is why he was able to orchestrate the comeback at Wisconsin, along with many other strong games this year.

Barrett, paired with Meyer leading the way, can help the Buckeyes come back. With a five game winning streak to end the season and a Big Ten Championship Game win, they should work their way into the top four.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
