If you are a big fan of superheroes like I am, you know that this is the age of the superheroes. Marvel has been producing blockbuster after blockbuster in the theaters. Superheros have also taken over television sets. The success of the CW's "Arrow" led to the spin-off and equally successful "The Flash." "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." is also very popular, as is the new "Supergirl" TV show.

When word first came of "Batman vs. Superman" and its casting, I remember the Internet blowing up with opinions. Very few people were happy with the casting of Ben Affleck as Batman. I heard many negative comments. Flash-forward to the movie, I heard many negative reviews again, but this time from the critics; the fans seemed to love the movie. I went in with an open mind and came out loving the movie.

1. Ben Affleck.

I can understand why some people were hesitant about Ben Affleck playing the caped crusader. He played Daredevil in 2003 with little success. That is not the case here. Ben is the perfect Bruce Wayne/Batman. His pain and grief were felt. Ben did fabulously in this role. He surpasses Christian Bale as Batman in my eyes. Bale represented a Batman that had started his journey, but Ben's Batman had been fighting crime in Gotham for 20 years. This Batman is brutal and scary. The first scene with Batman is breathtakingly magnificent, I still cannot get over it. Ben blew me away with his portrayal. He truly deserves every ounce of praise.

2. The cinematography.

The way this movie was shot takes your breath away. Every scene in this movie had me enthralled. I loved the scenery and the way the cinematographers take you into the movie. It was dark to match the movie and added to the gloominess. You can see the detail and the blood, sweat and tears that were put into every minute.

3. Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck's chemistry.

Many people knew that Henry Cavill could pull off Superman; he had done it once before "Batman vs. Superman" in "Man of Steel". Henry does amazing in this film; he portrays Superman's struggles fabulously. But Ben's Batman and Henry's Superman are amazing together. Even when they are fighting each other, you can see them working together. They each have the same goals but different means of achieving them. The tension is palpable, but doesn't get in the way of them moving to fight together.

4. Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman.

I cannot tell you the noise that came out of me when Wonder Woman came on screen. Gal Gadot is Wonder Woman. Gal was beautiful in the movie. Many fans of DC and Marvel have been demanding a strong female character centered movie, and they are getting it with Wonder Woman. This movie is merely an introduction for her. Gal portrayed the warrior perfectly. I love this character so much that I am excited to see her in her own solo movie in 2017.

5. THE SOUNDTRACK.

I want this soundtrack to play at my funeral. I love it so much. The music is composed by the legendary Hans Zimmer (who also did "The Dark Knight" Trilogy and "Inception" along with many others). This soundtrack ties you into the movie. It makes you feel every emotion and grabs you by the throat. The music transports you into the world of these heroes. I have always been a fan of Zimmer (if you need a track to make you cry, "Time" from "Inception" will do that) and he does not disappoint here. This soundtrack is heaven to my ears. The music will give you goosebumps whether you hear it in the theater or just by itself. It's powerful, as most scores should be.

6. THE CRITICS ARE WRONG.

I will tell you right now, the critics have it all wrong. Just look at their reviews compared to the fan reviews. The critics may hate it, but the fans love it just as much. A lot of critics unfairly compare this movie to the Marvel movies. The Marvel movies are not the DC movies. The critics loved Marvel movies such as "Iron Man 3" and "Avengers: Age of Ultron", but those movies faced a lot of backlash from the fans. This movie makes you think: How far will a person go to protect the one’s they love? How much power is too much power? Is there a possibility that the person everyone can trust can suddenly turn their back on them? It really makes you ponder humanity. One of the reasons the critics did not like the movie is because it is not paced like a regular Hollywood movie; it is like a comic book. Many fans enjoyed this and embraced this. As Ben Affleck has said, this is a movie for the fans, not the critics.

I highly recommend that you watch this film and create your own opinion. I love this movie with all my heart. I used to be a hardcore Marvel girl, but this movie turned me into a hardcore DC fan as well.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
