Last Tuesday evening, Ohio did something incredible. The Ohio Senate passed a piece of legislation called the "Heartbeat Bill" which makes abortion illegal once a heartbeat is detected. A heartbeat can be detected as early as six weeks. Physicians who provide this "care" will also be criminalized and punished. The bill will have the exception for the rare case of the mother's life being in danger.
This is incredible news, and with the new Trump administration looking to appoint pro-life justices so we can expect more victories in the future. Now some critics say that this bill is "moving backwards" or that it is restricting women's rights. These two statements are false on all measures. It is clear that the author of that piece does not understand law or science. This bill protects human life, so if the ACLU and Planned Parenthood are upset then you must be doing something right.
Honestly, Pro-choice people do not have any solid arguments for their position. They have gotten so lazy with their arguments they now say we are "pro-birth" not "pro-life" because we apparently do not care about the child as soon as it is outside the womb. This is also false. This bill is a big win for the Pro-Life movement, but there are still many battles to fight.
Ohio on Friday has also passed legislation allowing conceal carry at colleges and other places. Another amazing piece of legislation for Ohio. There are currently 23 other states that allow their colleges and universities to make their own decisions in regards to conceal carry. Utah is the only state that prohibits colleges from banning conceal carry on their campuses. Side note, I would like to transfer to Utah and then live there because that state is just amazing for a multitude of reasons including their amazing gun laws. I am very excited for the state of Ohio and what lies ahead for them.
