We all have days when we doubt the Lord. Whether it's be over a test, a relationship, or a decision. But you know what? STOP. Stop right now. There is no reason to doubt a Lord who loves you more than his own life! He gave his son for us! If you don't believe me, let's look at what the word says.
Matthew 14:28-31
28 And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.”29 He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus.30 But when he saw the wind,[a]he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.”31 Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
I know growing up, I have heard this story dozens of times. However, tonight I finally listened. Life has been anything but easy here lately. Between school, work, family, friends, and church, I barely have time to breathe. Don't get me wrong, I love my life. It may be stressful, but it is mine, and God gave it to me for a reason. I have taken many of my daily stresses to the Lord, but I wasn't feeling any better. That was until I read this set of verses. Peter is the only person in the Bible, other than Jesus, to ever walk on water. There are sixty-six books of the bible and only two people complete this task. I am Peter CONSTANTLY. I give God my hand, but I peek under the blindfold as he leads. Peter stepped out of the boat with no fear at all. I can give God my problem and feel better, but like Peter, when the wind comes I begin to fear. How many times am I going to doubt God's abilities? He has carried me so far in life and has saved me from sinking time after time. I can't count how many times God has said, "Kenzie, why did you even worry?" Something he taught me through this set of verses is that He's got this. I worry about anything and everything, but I have to remember to let go and let God. Once I give it to him I am no longer dealing with it alone. I am working with a miracle worker.
I love how the verses end. “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” God reminds Peter how foolish it is to worry when God has your hand. Why worry yourself sick when you are resting in the Father's arms?
So take this and apply it to your life! God is in every situation. He is with me and with you! He will never leave us, and some days nothing sounds better than a nice walk on the water.
