Lifetime’s reality show " Bring It !", although it is not new, is a good show that both girls and young women can get behind. "Bring It!" is a reality television show that is based in Jackson, Mississippi. On the show we find Ms. Diana Williams, or Ms. D as she’s frequently called, and her dance team, the Dancing Dolls. Ms. D and her Dolls are a team of dancers that compete in hip hop majorette competitions. Throughout the show, we see how each week Ms. D and her girls battle against their rivals and try to come out on top victorious. The dancing Dolls consists of girls ranging from ages 10 to 17. Along with these Dolls, we find their smaller counterparts, the Baby Dancing Dolls, who are all under the age of 10.
Each week, the Dancing Dolls dance in competitions with Stand Battle being their main focus. Stand Battle is where two teams face each other and alternate stands, which can last for at least one 8-count or longer, called by the captains depending on the opponent’s previous stand. Along with this, the team also occasionally competes in another category called Creative Dance where the team develops their own interpretation to that week’s theme.
While the girls are hard at work in the Dollhouse, where the Dolls practice, we meet the Dancing Dall Parents. The Dancing Doll Parents (DDP) are the Dolls’ main support group and biggest fans! If you hear someone screaming, “DD4L!” really loudly, then it’s more than likely a DDP. Although DDP may not like or agree with each and every decision that Ms. Diana makes, they do respect and understand that she is the best for their daughters both personally and emotionally. Regardless of the fuss they put up they still remain diligent in supporting their girls.
Although the Dolls may not win every time, they still remain a fierce competitor in the competition. They continue to come up with new things, and as a result, their rivals do their best to remain vigilant.
The Dolls main rivals include:
- The YCDT Superstarz
- Purple Diamonds (an in-town rival team)
- Infamous Dancerettes
- Divas of Olive Branch
One important component that their rivals should really pay much attention to is the way that Ms. Diana continues to strike passion into the girls. She remains the backbone to the team and believes in them and what they're capable of. She teaches them how to be humble and yet proud of what they accomplish. Through her, the girls learn that there is nothing to fear, even failure and that nothing can beat you as long as you try and do the best that you can do. I think that Ms. Diana remains a stronghold and an example to these girls on how to be smart, beautiful, passionate, business-savvy, determined, and respectful women.
"Bring It!" is a great show! Even if you may not prefer reality television, it still is something that you should give your time. Watch how a woman’s constant example leads young girls to pursing victory in both dance and their future endeavors. Everyone check out the Dancing Dolls on their show "Bring It!" on Lifetime, Fridays at 9/8 c!
