Atlanta Back Then: 6 Ways The City Has Changed

When we hear "Atlanta, Georgia" we may think "Hollywood of the south" or "Hotlanta" (as some Urban Dictionary definitions define it) but what about Atlanta before it became a mini Hollywood or before it became..."hot"? I have compiled a few images that convey what Atlanta was like before the rush of society invaded.

1. World of Coca Cola, 1990

Before the World of Coke was established where it currently is, which is across from the Georgia Aquarium, it was originally at Underground Atlanta.

2. Underground Atlanta, 1969

Underground Atlanta opened its doors in 1969 it is now home to bustling merchants and shop owners by day and nightlife and bars by night.

3. GA-400,1990

This image shows the land being cleared out for GA 400. It's mind blowing to see how uninhabited the city once was, and on top of that how recent this was, as well!

4. The Fox Theatre, 1946

Nowadays, The Fox is known by its bright lights and spectacular touring musicals. In 1946, it was known for itmusicals but maybe not so much for its bright lights.

5. Hartsfield Jackson International Airport, 1961

Hartsfield Jackson may be one of the most notable landmarks in Atlanta, as it is the busiest airport in the US. But has it always been this way? According to its size in the picture... I would say not.

6. The Varsity, 1953

The Varsity is Atlanta's most notable burger joint! It has always stayed true to its brand, even in the midst of the rush of today's society.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
