The Indiana University dining halls can't be summed up in a few words. It really is harder than you think, so I have recruited the Belcher family from the hit tv show, Bob's Burgers, to help me with this extravagant task. I will rank in order of best to worst. Wish us luck!
1. Forest
Forest dining hall gives you every option your little heart could want: Mexican, American, a customizable salad bar, Italian, frozen yogurt, and an added bonus a small Starbucks with the cutest desserts. It's where you gain your freshman 15 in half of a semester. It definitely has the best food, but depending on where you live it is the farthest away. Let's say a small prayer to all those who make the trek down just so they get to taste vegetables that aren't soggy.
2. Wright
Wright isn't horrible. It gives you quite a few options but the food is not as great as Forest. Still the same variety, just less fresh (as fresh as college dining can be). However, I believe their most popular item is their chicken strips. Some say they are dangerously good, others say that they are just dangerous to consume. I'll let you decide that one.
3. Well's Book Market Eatery
This I wouldn't really qualify as a dining hall, but as an on-campus cafe to the University, but it has good food so I'll put it on here. This only has three options: international, American, and a salad/soup/panini place. It also has a coffee and ice cream spot but all of these places have weird hours and long lines all the time so I'm not the biggest fan.
4. CollinsThis is the only dining hall on campus that is the traditional dining experience; you swipe in, eat as much as you want, then leave. This place has a fixed menu every day so you either eat what they have or go somewhere else. This can be frustrating for two reasons: 1. Sometimes you don't want to go far for dinner but you have no choice and 2. If you happen to be a picky eater then you are going to be out of luck here.
5. Gresh food courtDefinitely not the best IU has to offer. It reminds me of a middle school cafeteria with an elementary school menu. I would not go unless I was not forced to, and even then I would only get a drink. And yes, it is getting a Denny's inside but is that really an improvement?
Now I would have included the small cafes around campus but since there are so many that I haven't been to, I figured It would not have been fair to judge. Don't be mad at me, I am just being considerate. I would like to give a shout out to the wicked family that is the Belcher family for helping me get my point across.
