Since the US Open is in full swing, and I've been glued to the screen, I thought about the number of times a year that tennis is on. That number is a solid four. There are only four times tennis really matters to "fans" and viewers, and those times are the four grand slams. Whether you enjoy watching players race across hard, clay, or grass courts, you always wish it was on more often. Who doesn't want to see the amazing outfits, Serena's power, and weird fans/situations on the court?
So, here is The Office explaining my emotions and feels during Grand Slam matches.
1. When the first day of a tournament is on TV.
THANK YOU SO MUCH ESPN, TENNIS CHANNEL, AND NBC FOR THIS GLORIOUS DAY!2. When you lose that excitement and remember it's only the first round.
I mean I'm so happy tennis is back on but these blowout matches are just not enjoyable. This doesn't apply to upsets though, as long as my girls Radwanska and Bouchard stay in the mix.3. When a tennis player you love pulls out due to injury.
Worst feeling in the entire world. Period. I'm looking at you Eugenie Bouchard.
4. When you have to root someone else on now.
I mean I guess I can like Victoria Azarenka or Caroline Wozniacki just for the next week. I don't think I could handle them longer than that, sorry ladies.5. When you look at the Mens' quarterfinals list and there are zero Americans.
Honestly I should stop getting my hopes up with this one. An American hasn't even won a Grand Slam since 2003 when Andy Roddick won the US Open. Such a shame.6. When Serena/favorite/underdog raises the trophy.
The final points of the match and the trophy presentation always choke me up. Nothing but respect to these players... and oh no, here come the tears as they congratulate each other on a great match.
