A-Z Of Summer Vacation

Summer vacation is finally upon us! Hooray! But after that first week of catching up with family and friends, it can be difficult to think of more things to do. Look no further. Here is your official A-Z list of things to do during your summer vacation.

A. Apple pies!

Apples are perfect for the summer. And who doesn't like a good apple pie?

B. Board Games.

Is there a better way to bound with family and friends than board games? While tensions can get high when you play a game like Risk or Monopoly, it's worth it. (Or if you're like me, just avoid those two games at all cost.) Play a nice game of Cards Against Humanity, Loaded Questions, of the Game of Life.

C. Camp.

If you are a person who likes the wilderness, spend some time with nature by going camping. Tell some ghost stories, make some s'mores, and have a good time.

D. Dance.

Dance because it's nice out. Dance because you don't have school. Dance because the new season of Orange is the New Black is coming out soon. Just dance.

E. Explore.

Explore your town, there are bound to be place you haven't been before. Or simply explore your back yard. It's always fun finding new places to explore.

F. Film.

Get together with some friends to make a short film, or to film your adventures over the summer. Having your memories recorded is never a bad thing.

G. Gym.

The summer is the perfect time to check out the gym. Even if you don't want to shed a few pounds, going to the gym will give you something to do during the day, and staying active is guaranteed to make you feel good.

H. Hairdresser.

Go get your hair cut for the summer, or try a new hair color. Summer is the perfect time to experiment with your hair because you don't have to see anybody if you don't want to.

I. Ice cream.

It's kind of a rule, you have to get ice cream at least once over the summer.

J. Jam.

Make some homemade jam. It's made of fruit, and fruit is perfect for the summer. (You could always cook something else instead.) Ask your grandma, I'm sure she could show you how.

K. Keyboard.

It doesn't have to be the keyboard, but take this time to learn a new instrument. Guitar, ukulele, kazoo; there are plenty to choose from.

L. Languages.

While you're at it, why not start studying a new language?

M. Mini-golf.

Get together with friends or family and take a trip to mini-golf. It's a perfect bonding experience.

N. Netflix.

After the semester you just had you deserve to relax and watch some good old-fashion Netflix.

O. Oar.

Take a trip on a boat. Go on a canoe, a paddle-boat, or even white water rafting. I went white water rafting last summer and had a blast.

P. Park.

You are never too old to take a trip to the park. Get some nice fresh air, go on a swing, or read a book outside. It's the perfect place to go over the summer.

Q. Quack.

(That may be a stretch, but have you ever tried to find something for the letter Q?) Go to the zoo! Again, you may think you're too old for it, but you really aren't. Or if you really think you are, borrow someone else's child for the day (make sure to acquire proper permission first.)

R. Rally.

Have a political cause that you're very passionate about? Get involved somehow!

S. Swim.

Cool off in the pool or at the beach. It's going to get hot out, so make the most of it by taking a nice dip.

T. Trip.

Take a trip somewhere. Whether you go on a trip to a different state, or just to visit Boston for the day you're bound to have a good time.

U. Unread.

We all have books on our to-be-read piles that have been haunting us from afar for ages. This is the perfect time for you to take advantage of free-time and get lost in some new worlds.

V. Vampires.

Watch "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," it's the best show ever made and you won't regret it. Or if you prefer, you could always catch up on the Vampire Diaries.

W. Work.

Now that you don't have school work to do, get a summer job and save up money for the next school year! Besides, it will give you more of a structure to your summer.

X. Xeric.

Xeric is described by Webster as "of, pertaining to, or having dry or desert-like conditions." It's unavoidable, you will be having a xeric summer whether you want to or not.

Y. YMCA

Go to your local YMCA and go swimming, take classes, or exercise. Every YMCA is different, but there is definitely something worth doing at yours. Or you could always just dance to the Village People.

Z. Zumba.

Take a Zumba class. Maybe you've heard of it before but have never gotten around to trying it. Now's your chance.

Creating your schedule for the upcoming semester can be an exciting process. You have the control to decide if you want to have class two-days a week or five-days a week. You get to check things off of your requirement checklist. It's an opportunity for a fresh start with new classes (which you tell yourself you'll never skip.) This process, which always starts out so optimistic, can get frustrating really quickly. Here are 25 thoughts you have when registering for classes.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
