These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things

I'm not a "raindrops on roses, and whiskers on kittens" kind of girl.

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things

Favorite things - we all have them. Music, food, clothes, colors, animals, people, you name it. Things we love that others might not. Things that make us unique, that set us apart. Here are just a few of mine.

Music - There's nothing like getting lost in a song. Picking a favorite song is so hard, I have a life playlist. But if I had to narrow it down, I'd have to pick between country and Christian music. Or certain Indie bands, the misfits of the music world. But there are so many gems to be found in the music of Indie bands like Alex & Sierra and He Is We.

Places - Most people have a clear favorite, beach vs. mountains. If I could only ever go to one, I'd probably say the mountains. But at the end of the day, as long as I can wander, I love either one. The peace that comes when you're quietly walking along the sand or rocky path, just you, your thoughts and your prayers - that's my favorite.

Movies - "The Princess Bride," "Steel Magnolias" or "Courageous." There are scenes that make me laugh, scenes that make me cry. Scenes that make me dream, scenes that make me remember. Scenes that I can quote like the back of my hand, that I'll quote even if I'm not watching the movie.

Quotes - I'm that girl whose walls, journals, email, and newsfeed are taken over by quotes. Quotes that make me happy, quotes that make me sad. Quotes that remind me of God's plan, quotes that give me hope. Quotes that make me feel in love, quotes that make me think. There's something about other people's words that encourage me.

Clothes - Classy and modest, of course. Sweaters, sleeveless tops and cardigans, sandals, boots. Necklaces and earrings to match. But also, yoga pants and crewnecks, shorts and T-shirts for lazy days.

People - Friends who are always there for you. People that support you, that are honest with you. Family who's there for you no matter what. Kids whose smiles make your day better. Teachers who teach you important life lessons. People who make you laugh, who hold you when you cry.

Dreams - Both while awake and asleep. Life's moments that make you smile, that remind you that you're here for a reason. Things that give you hope. That remind you of who you want to be.

Faith - I love being Catholic. There's so much to learn, and not enough time to learn it all. Things I can't fully understand while on earth. Hope, love, and truth. Reminders that we're all called to be saints, we're all made for love. God loves us, and has an incredible plan for each of us.

These are a few of my favorite things.

I'm sure, like me, many of you received lots of gift cards over the holidays. After working retail seasonally, here are a few tips that I learned in order to make the employees at your favorite store just a little happier and not want to charge you extra on your purchase for being awful. Here are some times when you should be nicer to retail workers than you actually are!

5 Untold Struggles Of The Short Friend

I'm the Short Friend. I've been the Short Friend since about the seventh grade. I'm the one who stands in the front of the photos, gets made fun of for their height, and still shops in the kids department.

This article is not for the Almost Short Friends, i.e. the 5'3" and 5'4" Friends. No no, this is for the Actually Short Friends, i.e. the Barely Scraping 5'1" and shorter Short Friends.

11 Things All Call Center Workers Can Empathize With Better Than Anyone
Youtube

This semester I started my journey as a member of my University's Alumni Outreach Team. This means a lot of things, but primarily it means that I get to make phone calls to parents and alumni two nights a week to update contact information, collect things like business cards and volunteer hours, and even ask for money.
