Of Course You Can Have an Opinion

Unless you are a Conservative....

Of Course You Can Have an Opinion
Callagy Law

As a young Republican in America, I feel it is hard to speak up on current issues facing our nation. Sometimes I feel that I can't speak up at all. And if I dare to do so, I am constantly trying to water down my beliefs. Fearful that I might say something to offend someone or a group of people and face major backlash. Wake up America, it isn't the government that is taking away our freedom of speech, it's our society full of liberals.

Liberals believe in freedom of speech for everyone.....until you disagree with them. Then you become racist, homophobic, or islamaphobic. The meaning of freedom of speech is the right to express your opinions without censorship or restraint. We have absolutely lost the sight of the true meaning. As of right now in this county, every citizen that disagrees with a left wing view on black lives matter groups, radical Islam,"police brutality", Hilary Clinton, Obama, and immigration, I suggest keeping your opinions to yourself until we get this country back on track. It is not worth putting yourself at risk.

I believe the reason Donald Trump has been so successful in this election is because he is speaking the truth about matters and not watering down his beliefs. Even after getting heavy backlash on his truthful blunt remarks, he isn't afraid to say what many of us conservatives wish we could and he is giving us the voice we wish we had. Never should we have to suppress our beliefs out of fear.

Our nation has become overly sensitive to anything that might be harsh. We have created this ridiculous term called political correctness. What a joke. It should not matter what people say or if it offends you or someone else. This term itself is a huge reason why our "freedom of speech" is being restricted. The harsh truth is that life is hard and people need to toughen up. And when I say people, I mean cry baby liberals. I'm sure with my previous sentence that I offended quit a few people, but that's my point.

As I am getting older I am becoming more and more frustrated with how I always have to watch what I say or write. Many people in this country need to learn the term tolerance. You don't have to agree or like what people say. The point is that they should have the right to say what they think and feel and no one in this upside down, liberal filled society can take that away from them.

All of us in this great country should have the right to speak our minds freely. Together, let's get the America back where we can say what we think without having to fear for our physical well being. Let's get the America back where the liberals don't get to decide what is "politically correct". Let's get our country back America and our freedom of speech.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
