The beginning of September marks an exciting and challenging time for the Trojans -- the classes are becoming more rigorous, students are adapting and developing routines and most importantly, fall is right around the corner. And with football season now in full swing, the school spirit on campus has definitely increased. To express my love for Troy, I composed this poem about the daily lives of students and why it's great to be a Troy Trojan.
Ode to Troy University
At Troy University, home of the Trojans,
You'll hear a variety of different things spoken.
"Let's go to Saga!" or "Let's go to TC!",
"Want to go to dollar movie night with me?"
Students study in the library and read on the quad,
They meet up with pals, their gang, or their squad.
Sipping Starbucks coffee, eating Einstein's bagels,
Wondering where they moved the billiards table.
Some classes are tough, while others are easy,
Some professors are stern, while others are cheesy.
Parking is a nightmare from which we want to wake,
"Just build a parking deck already -- for the students' sake!"
Textbooks are costly, a fact sad but true,
Flex points disappear (we buy a lot of food).
The bookstore is awesome, and has everything we need,
From scantrons to snacks to new books to read.
Between sororities, fraternities, and various clubs too,
There's a lot at Troy for students to do.
Act in a play, march in the band,
Learn to think, to create, to take a stand.
We are Troy University, a fact we proudly say,
Even on our rough or not so great days.
So let's cheer for our school with this great battle cry,
We are one, we are strong, we are T-R-O-Y!
