Our bodies are machines and deserve to be fueled. Humans were raised to depend on endurance—being able to run faster, lift heavier, and outlast the enemy. Giving the body the means it not only needs but deserves to train, grow, and reach new heights physically is vital to our success as humans.
There is nothing like the feeling of exhausting every muscle in your body and pushing yourself to your limits. That releases adrenaline and fills you with confidence. When the feeling of lactic acid builds up in your muscles, and every ounce of your being wants to give in, you persist because you know the longer you hold, the better your results will be. Better yet, there is a place in which other people around you are doing the same dance, pushing you to finish strong.
The moment you walk into this place, it will smell like sweat and the sounds of weights dropping will be loud and powerful. You will be walking into an arena in which all men are fighting to look like the alpha male- working to run faster, lift heavier, and outlast each other. There is no doubt you will strain every muscle and push out one more bead of sweat in order to show everyone else what you've got. As a bar bell cuts deep into your palms, covered up by layers of chalk, you know the fight for king is only beginning, since no one in this place will be willing to give up in front of one another. Competition is key to the success of creating endurance.
Walking out of this place, though, you will have control of yourself. Natural endorphins will fill your body and soreness of your muscles will start to creep in, reminding you of the hard work you put in. No one can take the feeling of triumph away from you, gained by pushing yourself to the very limits that humans were created to endure. Your confidence will carry you with dignity and pride, allowing you to take on anything that comes your way.
There is a place called the gym that turns weakness into strength, slow to fast, and doubt to self assurance. Every one of us deserves the chance to work. Give yourself the chance to be great.
