An Ode To My Former Teachers

Here's to those who inspired me most.

An Ode To My Former Teachers
Johnnie Saletti

Every day at school I was surrounded by such inspiring beings who made my life not only interesting but fun and challenging. They made me feel brilliant and ridiculous at the same time and pushed me to conquer life's biggest obstacles and still reach my fullest potential. Not only did I enjoy learning every day, but I felt inspired by those who put in the work to make sure I would hopefully someday be half as successful as they were. They had my full support, selflessly helping others before themselves.

Teachers. What would we do without them? So here's an ode to the high school teachers that inspired me most.

To those who Influenced & Motivated me to be where I am today,

As I go full on, head first in trying to earn my admittance in the Education program, I realize how blessed I am with the people who brought me to this point.

Not only did you inspire me to become a teacher just like you, but you assisted me in realizing this was going to be my true passion. Isn't it something that every day I think about how I am one step closer to accomplishing my dreams? My minds in the present, but my heart is fully in the future. In four short years, I get to do what I love. Inspiring kids like you inspired me? Sounds like the most rewarding gift I could ever ask for. I hope to be HALF the inspiration you were to me.

Thank you for making me feel as if I had something special to contribute to this world. For five days a week, putting in countless hours to students who had not a drop of gratefulness nor appreciation for all that you do. Yet, you still give them the world like they're your own. I see the countless hours you put in to make the school a more welcoming, warm place that students are proud to be a part of. I most certainly was. While I'm living up my college days I want you to know how truly thankful I am for the perseverance behind your effort to get me here. I can't wait to be teaching by your side in the blink of an eye. For now, I know your belief in the new students and encouragement for the not so new ones rests as nothing but inspirational. As for me, every day I'm working hard to live my dream job as a future teacher just like you.

Keep doing what you do best: changing lives and igniting a spark in students' hearts.

With best regards,

Johnnie

To those who celebrate, you just spent an entire day cooking an elaborate meal with all of your favorite foods. You probably ate your body weight in pumpkin pie and mashed potatoes. What happens now? 18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
