Fall time is officially in full swing, and we all know what that means. Break out the flannels, scarfs, and start loading up that Instagram with cute pumpkin patch pics. Fall really does bring out the basic in all of us. We try so hard to not succumb to becoming “basics” of fall, but it seems almost impossible upon that first whiff of a pumpkin spice latte. In honor of the best part of fall, an ode to everything pumpkin:
Pumpkin Spice Latte
The OG, the fearless leader of the group, it’s where the obsession all began. It’s love at first sip. We all subliminally try to not fall into the pressure of loving this drink, but fail every time. And Starbucks has made it an even cheaper and convenient drink by offering it in the instant packs. It’s a famous fall drink for a reason.
Pumpkin Butter
Definitely a majorly underrated participant in the pumpkin category. My favorite is the one from Trader Joe’s. You can slather this stuff on just about anything: toast, bagels, muffins, waffles, you name it. And there are even more creative ideas such as adding it to yogurt/granola parfaits, oatmeal, and making delicious fall flavored sandwiches and panini’s with it.
Pumpkin Bread
This, actually being what inspired the article, is currently cooling off on my kitchen counter as we speak. The boxed one from Trader Joe’s is incredibly easy to make. Not even a dummy like me in the kitchen can mess it up. Just add water, eggs, and vegetable oil. Great for dessert or even just for a quick breakfast.
Pumpkin M&Ms
Okay, okay, hang with me. Some avid M&Ms classic lovers are probably out there cringing, but trust me, they are good. The pumpkin flavor is not too overwhelming but just enough to add something a little extra to the classic candy we all know and love. Pumpkin and chocolate, what gets better than that?
Pumpkin Ice Cream
This one gets me in trouble every time. I have to limit myself to one pint every fall season. I can sit down and the whole carton will be gone if I’m not careful. Ben and Jerry’s offers a pumpkin cheesecake one, but I prefer the old-school Edy’s slow churned. So creamy and delicious.
Pumpkin Spice Cheerios
This one I can’t actually vouch for myself but it seems interesting. For me classic cheerios always seemed a little bland and never were quite sweet enough. This seems like a good combination. And add some chocolate milk, sounds like a bomb dessert to me. Definitely looking forward to trying this one.
So go out there all you basics of fall. Hold your head high and be proud of your pumpkin spice obsession. Don’t apologize for it, because it is simply amazing. And completely justifiable because it’s only for one season, right? Right.
