Last summer, I got two new shirts from American Eagle Outfitters. I got a blue tank top and a red tank top from their Soft & Sexy line. I love both tops so much. Unfortunately, I have lost the blue top. The blue top was my very favorite top from that summer.
So Dear My Missing Blue Top,
Thank you for finally appearing in American Eagle in my size that week. I liked my red shirt, but I loved you more.
You were my favorite purchase all summer; I would wear you everywhere.
Then one day, I put you in the dirty clothes for my mother to wash you, and you never came out.
Where are you? Are you in the abyss of my closet, where the single pairs of socks are? Did my mom accidentally place you in my sister's closets by accident?
I pray every day that you are still in the house. But I cannot find you, wherever you are.
Could you maybe send out a smoke signal? Of course you can't, you're an inanimate object.
I'm sorry for the times I wore you without a tank top underneath you. I am sorry for the times I got water or food stains on you, I inherited that from my dad. And I am sorry that you never came back from your journey of being clean.
You should know that you still are my favorite blue top. And that I still think of you everyday, and I miss you when I am away at school. I'm hoping that I'll find you this summer.
But I guess I should make my peace that I may never find you again.
Update 5/27/2017: I have found the shirt curled up in a ball next to my hamper in my closet.
