An Ode To Craig Sager

On December 15, 2016 longtime Turner Sports sideline reporter Craig Sager died at the age of 65. Days after being inducted into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame, Sager lost his battle to acute myeloid leukemia after a three year fight. He fought hard, having three bone marrow and stem cell transplants in a span of three years. Sager was honored this past year at the 2016 ESPYS, accepting the Jimmy V Perseverance Award saying, "I will continue to keep fighting sucking the marrow out of life as life sucks the marrow out of me".

Craig Sager was loved, adored and respected throughout the Sports World. Whether it be other reporters, players or coaches, everyone was not only was willing but wanting to answer Craig Sager's questions. Sager become known for his colorful and unique suits that he wore each and every time we would see him on camera. Craig claimed in his speech at the ESPYS, "I will live my life full of love and full of fun. It's the only way I know how.", which is why one of the the best ways to honor him would be to bring back some of the notable outfits we've seen Craig in over the years that represented the joy he brought to sports.

Craig Sager's love of life, fun attitude and lively interviews will be missed. He was one of a kind and the Sports World is better for him having been a part of it.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
