According to the "Zoey 101" Wikia page, Obsessive Male Gender Disorder is a condition in which a girl is “boy crazy.” This was first brought up on the first episode of "Zoey 101’s" third season, where Nicole (one of Zoey’s friends) was transferred to an all-girls boarding school due to her being diagnosed with OMGD.
We all have that one friend in our group who can admit to thinking 99.9 percent of the guys they see walking to class are hot. I’m actually that friend.
I officially diagnose myself with Obsessive Male Gender Disorder (OMGD).
I cannot walk around campus one day without raising my eyebrow or quietly saying “Oh my God..” to myself or my friends. They are everywhere. I can’t contain myself. And it’s sad. Some of these men on campus are too much to look at. Although many guys in college aren’t looking for long-term anything, and most girls call these types of dudes f**kboys (that’s a whole other article), we’ve got to give credit where credit is due. There’s some good looking guys in West Chester.
Although I’m not smooth, I’m the girl in my friend group to go up to a guy and at least say, “Hi.” I’m the one who can try to have small talk, but as always, it never goes anywhere. At least I try. These guys at WCU can be super intimidating. You want to go up to them and say something, but there’s the ultimate fear of rejection. You can try to flip your hair, spray perfume during class, pick up that pencil you “dropped,” and ask if they did the homework that you already did. You can try, but they’ll most likely never catch on to what you’re trying to do.
This is the day to day chronicles of a girl (or guy!) that’s come down with Obsessive Male Gender Disorder. We see guys, we fall hard. In our heads, we start thinking about how life could be if me and that cute guy from that one frat were to actually notice me and date me. Our morning texts, walks to class, and if he’s a good kisser. Then, out of nowhere, we find out their dating someone.
Back to Square 1.
For those with OMGD, going on to the next is easy. We know there’s a billion fish in the sea because we see them everyday and we suffer. They are all so fine.
If I could tell any of these guys anything, it’d be that I know I don’t have a shot. But I would just tell them that their parents made something great. And that they should thank them. Everyday.
Nicole, you are not alone. But I pray I will never be sent to an all-girls boarding school.
And guys, stay cute.
