Why I'm Obsessed With The University Of Arizona

Seriously, the best college.

Why I'm Obsessed With The University Of Arizona

If you know me, you know I never stop talking about college. Freshman year was seriously the best year of my life. It felt so good to get out of California and attend college in another state, even if it's just next door. Honestly, one year of college can change you and shape you better than four entire years of high school, crazy right? I've learned so much this past year, I've met the most amazing friends, and I've had a great year educationally.

You'll never hear me talking about how I hate my school. If you ask any of my friends, you'll know I never fail to make a slip up and talk about my insane ride freshman year. From the insane parties to staying up till 4 a.m. studying for finals.

The parties are insanely fun, no doubt. I mean we are known for being the best party school. I have so much fun going out on Thirsty Thursdays with my friends, frat hopping, and just having a great time. Sometimes we go out with our guy friends and go to house parties. Sometimes we just like to kick it and go to No Anchovies or Espresso and relax there. Regardless of what we do, we can be doing nothing and I still would be having the best time. The best part is my dorm was close to University Blvd and not far from the frat houses.

I can't forget the love I have for the friends I met this year. Right when I met them, I know I'd have them in my life forever. I couldn't ask for a better group of friends. They've been there for me through everything. I miss them so much since we're all away for summer, but it's not too long till we all reconnect, and I can't wait for that. I know they won't let me falter. They have my back and I have theirs forever.

Not to mention how beautiful the campus is. The U of A has the most amazing sunsets. I thought California sunsets were beautiful, but Arizona sunsets top them (sorry Cali). Our campus is not too big so, in my opinion, I don't need to ride a bike or anything. The only problem is watching out for bikers who have no problem running you over if you're in their way. I love walking out on campus everyday and I never want to leave. The Union is obviously my favorite place since they have Cactus Grill. My friends and I always find ourselves there stuffing our faces in between classes.

I look back on my freshman year and I wouldn't want to change a single thing. Everything from the minute I moved in to the minute I moved out was indescribable. I'm happy to be home for a bit and hang out with my family, but I think it's time to go back to my second home. #beardown forever.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
