7 Reasons You Need to Watch Girl Meets World

First things first, if you haven’t watched "Boy Meets World' you’re wrong. Go watch it now, it will change your life and you will be quoting it for decades. When you finish that go watch the spinoff 'Girl Meets World'.

'Girl Meets World' is set about 15 years after 'Boy Meets World' ended. The show is all about Cory and Topanga, their marriage, and their kids. It mostly centers on their 13-year-oldish daughter Riley. Riley is joined by her best friend Maya (her own Shawn), her boy crush Lucas (kind of like Topanga), and their nerdy friend Farkle Minkus, yes Minkus. He is Stewart Minkus’ son. Cory is their teacher and probably will be for the entirety of the show because he is new Feeny. Topanga is a lawyer because she’s badass. And they also have a five-year-oldish son named Auggie who is the little comic relief just like Morgan was. If you can’t already see it, it’s literally Boy Meets World just set in New York and in this decade.

And now here I am 20 years old and I watch this show religiously, I even rewatched the first season on Netflix already because it is so freaking good and here’s why.

1. Cory and Topanga.

They were the perfect couple when we were young and now they are even more perfect. They have the best marriage but are still those crazy kids we loved. They still make us laugh and still give us real life lessons. Those lessons are now just about how I am gonna raise my children.

2. References.

This show has brought back so much. Not only the characters, Shawn, Feeny, Alan, Amy, Eric, Angela, Harley, Turner and many others have all made appearances which make my inner kid scream with joy. But they also have a ton of small asides about 'Boy Meets World'. Referencing the purse that brought Angela and Shawn together, Shawn and Cory’s handshake, Topanga’s face heart made of lipstick, or Harley’s classic baboon joke. They even finally told you what happened to Turner and why he disappeared and broke all of our young hearts. They even reference things you don’t remember but they remember.

3. Lucas.

I am 20 years old, this boy is 16 playing a 14 year old and yet I am completely in love with him. He’s really stinking attractive, plus so funny. He is the only one who ever thinks the “wait what” that TV shows always make us think. He is also just a total prince charming. From the first episode on you fall in love with this country boy and he just gets better.

4. The Bay Window.

Riley and Maya have their spot, the bay window where all important talks happen. They are best friends, soul sisters, Cory and Shawn. They tell each other everything, talk about boys, fight, makeup, hug, and cry all at that bay window. No matter what happens they are there for each other and you can’t help but love and want that.

5. Actually Good Acting.

Yes this show is not perfect, it’s a Disney Channel kid’s show but they are all actually fantastic actors. The kids are young but can be very powerful. There are some emotional episodes, yes I have cried multiple times, but these kids know how to act. They bring all the emotions out and do it just right.

6. They Make Fun Of Themselves.

The best part of this show is they know it’s kind of stupid. They reference that the other students in class never say anything, that Cory will always be their teacher because that’s how it works, how no one ever knocks, and how things are just convenient. It makes the show better to know that it can laugh at itself.

7. You Feel Like a Kid and an Adult.

Boy Meets World was my childhood, I grew up with it. Now Girl Meets World is my adulthood, I still connect with Cory and Topanga but also connect with Riley and Maya. Cory and Topanga are teaching me about being an adult but Riley and Maya remind me that I can still be a kid and I can still have fun.

This show brings you full circle and really gives you everything you could ever want from a spinoff from a 90’s TV show, so go watch it right now. It’s on Netflix and the Watch Disney Channel app. So go watch it, you’ll thank me later.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

winter

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
