1. First of all, he's only 25.
And even better than that, his first feature (before he ever even released an EP) ,"La, La, La", went to the top of the charts when he was only 21. I feel extremely incompetent.
2. He was a Barback before we cried about our non-existent love lives to his songs.
I am sure after working in a bar in England, Sam really couldn't breathe, but how does that not make him the coolest barback around?! Could you imagine last call but like in a song belting from this heavenly man's mouth?
3. He's a feminist.
His mom was the breadwinner while his stay-at-home dad made sure little Samuel knew all about the importance of empowering women. Even his music idols are mostly female, including Whitney Houston, Beyoncé, and Etta James.
4. His music is perfect breakup music.
Like I mentioned earlier, we've all been half a pint deep in some Ben & Jerry's, listening to Stay With Me and bawling our eyes out for absolutely no reason at all. I mean occasionally his lyrics really feel relatable, especially after a breakup, but we all know we could also cry over the lost chance at some cute boy we saw in the Student Union that will never know our name.
5. He is so humble it hurts.
He's won 26 awards total, that's more than Taylor Swift... And every time he gets up to accept an award he's literally dumbfounded and shocked like he didn't just drop the most soulful album.
6. The Thrill of it All drops November 3rd.
With two already amazing singles, Pray and Too Good at Goodbyes, we can tell this album is going to blow our minds. His lyrics and his soul just go unmatched and I don't know about you, but that album will be on repeat until I get to see him on tour, if that ever happens...
