You Know You're Obsessed With Christmas When...

Halloween has come and gone, and it is time to get ready for the next big holiday. No, I am not talking about Thanksgiving. I am talking about the most wonderful time of the year, aka Christmastime! As soon as you say your last “boo” and put away that Halloween costume, it is time to get ready for the best holiday of the year. So as we prepare, we “Christmas-obsessed folk” know exactly how to get pumped for this festive time:

  1. Christmas music starts as soon as it gets cold. Let’s be real…it starts as soon as you stop sweating while walking to class.
  2. The day after Halloween includes a binge of any and every holiday movie on Netflix (that includes every Hallmark and ABC Family cheesy romantic comedy).
  3. As soon as ABC Family releases its lineup for “25 Days of Christmas,” you immediately press the share button on Facebook.
  4. The amount of money you spend on decorating your dorm room for this holiday is absurd. But the amount of lights, the wreath, the stockings, the doormat, and the mini Christmas tree were totally worth it.
  5. You get way too excited when you find out the red cups have been released at Starbucks. You still get a hot drink even when you don’t like coffee. That is dedication, my friends.
  6. The Christmas-themed Coke cans give you life.
  7. The countdowns that say how many days until Christmas give you chills.
  8. A beautiful light display makes you tear up.
  9. A tiny part of you still believes in Santa.
  10. You’re 18, and you still wake up before 8 a.m. on Christmas.
  11. Picking which Christmas candle you should light is too much of a difficult decision
  12. When you hear jingle bells, you want to start singing.
  13. You still want to get pics with Santa in the mall, but like you don’t want to feel the judgment. Maybe that’s just me...

Christmastime is my favorite time of the year. It's not my favorite because it's the season of gifts and Santa and cheesy movies, but I love what Christmas represents. It not only brings "tidings of comfort and joy," but it also is the celebration of Jesus's birth. In the craze that this holiday season can sometimes bring, I hope it is a season that you can spend with family and friends.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
