10 Obnoxious Things That Wake You From A Nap

Just let me sleep.

Let's face it; all college students take naps. It seems like every time we get the perfect opportunity to lay down and rest for a while something happens to wake us from our slumber. I've experienced nap interruption at home and while living in the dorms, and they are both equally infuriating. I've laid out a list of both college and home annoyances that wake us from our precious beauty sleep.

At College:

1. Fire alarms- Normally they tell you when they are gonna happen, but sometimes they will surprise you, even when you're napping.

2. Roommates- They always come in at the most inappropriate time, but when your napping is the worst, especially if they bring guests.

3. Suit mates- You wouldn't think they would affect your napping schedule but they can. If they are loud talkers, play loud music or take showers right once your about to lay down, it will affect how you sleep.

4. Hallway noise- This only really affects you if you live on a busy floor, near the main lobby, or next to noise neighbors, but if they are loud and screaming, they will wake you.

5. Phones- It's like the minute you lay down and start to drift into sleep, someone texts you, the group chat blows up your phone, or your mom calls you; it's bad timing for everyone.

At Home:

1. The Vacuum- Of course, the one and only time someone is actually cleaning the house is when you are napping. Great.

2. The Kitchen- If you are like me and you have a room right near the kitchen, then you hear everything that is going on in the kitchen. Cleaning, cooking, and talking!

3. Yelling and fighting- The moment you lay down is the same moment that your siblings decide to fight, or your mom decides to give a yelling lecture to your younger brother. In the end you end up yelling at them.

4. Animals- They always want attention, even if your napping. The one time my cat decides to give me love is when I'm napping, and it's good that he loves me, but seriously I'm napping.

5. Music and movies- It's okay to watch and listen to them, but when the volume is at max there will be a problem. I'm napping!

Overall lesson to be learned; don't mess with me when I'm napping.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Whether you're commuting or dorming, your first year of college is a huge adjustment. The transition from living with parents to being on my own was an experience I couldn't have even imagined- both a good and a bad thing. Here's a personal archive of a few of the things I learned after going away for the first time.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
